Of Cobweb and my new friends who inspired me:)

I have not been blogging here for ages. Nearly four years of collecting digital cobwebs in this blog:) and I am doing spring cleaning today. Thank you Zaid Ali Alsagoff for making me blog again, I confess, I have been wanting to this so many times in the last 4 years! Of course this will absolutely BENEFIT me in so many ways especially when I am trying to finish my Permanent Head Damage journey:) Not forgetting Norhayati Maskat, who would willingly jump off Titanic with me;) so that I can start organizing my knowledge in a better way..Thank you! Way to go girl;) So, move aside Russell Crowe..here comes ME:) What then will I share? I have been involved with Web 3D for teaching and learning. I own a 3D Virtual space hosted by ReactionGrid. This is an OpenSimulator 3D Virtual World that is similar to Second Life. I use the former because of my learners, they are secondary school students in Shah Alam Selangor. Second Life has age restriction (and Facebook too, check out teachers and parents: make sure FB is used for learners age 13+). I will start blogging about my experience, and will link this site to a few other sites that I own and have not been responsible maintaining them:( Okay, now for my brooms..off to other sites!

ICT in my teaching and learning practices

It has been quite sometime that I write in my blog. I just uploaded my presentation at International Conference of Education and Innovation (ICEI) 2008.

The presentation is about what I have done in my school, being an ordinary day school in Shah Alam. To ask me how I did it, look through the slides. I believe in lifelong learning and doing that, I never stop learning (especially online), well, proved to be beneficial, especially when I have a "teacher" who never stops me from getting knowledge from her (thanks to Prof Raja!).

On Smartboards

I may get a smartboard for my school if I can explore the usage, train others to use it and carry out a research especially on the effectiveness of using smartboards as a learning tool.

So much of doing a teaching module huh:) So probably I need to find out what would the teachers benefit from using the smartboard IN RELATION TO THE TOPIC I INTEND TO RESEARCH ON.

May be, I can still design something for teachers, but use the smartboard as an added or the learning tool for teachers...wow, there's a lot to do!! I wonder where do I go wrong in conceptualizing my ideas? Have I started a little bit narrow? Now my literature map has another added component - the teaching module, the future skills, the gap in EST syllabus, the use of web 2.0 ..and now the smartboards.

But I have found links to the use of smartboards, the thing that I like is that it is claimed that the smartboard can help in solving problems of lacking computer access. But..how do I use only one smartboard with many learners? How high is the level of thinking that can be applied when using the board? How do I get to enhance my teaching by using the smartboard, other than for the sake of using the technology?

I need to explore.
